Information regarding events and how to qualify.

Operation Wedding Gown

Brides Across America holds its wedding gown giveaways twice a year in partnership with bridal salons across the country.  The events take place in July and November to honor our troops around Independence Day and Veteran's Day.

How to Get a Free Dress

1
Make sure that you qualify for a dress
In general, you qualify if you are a military bride/first responder (or the fiancé of a military member or first responder),
2
Register to attend an upcoming event
Events are held nationwide in July & November, around the Fourth of July and Veterans Day holidays.
3
Attend your event and get your dress
On the day of the event, you will check-in/provide ID, and will be assisted in finding a beautiful dress. You will leave with your dress that day!

About the Gowns

You will find a wide variety of gowns donated by designers, salons, and individuals. Each salon has a different number of  gowns and sizes available to give away. Prior to the event, we provide each salon with a complete list of the attending brides and their sizes.  We do our best to make sure that a good selection is available.

Alterations

Most gowns require alteration.  Alterations and any associated costs are the  bride's responsibility. Limit One Gown Per Bride:  Brides may receive one wedding gown only from Brides Across America and agree only to use it for personal use. When you register for a gown giveaway event, you agree to comply with this policy.

Registration Fee

There is a $40 tax-deductible registration fee that is paid when registering for the event. The fee covers administrative costs associated with running the event. Brides Across America is a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization. Brides experience financial hardship may contact us about waiving the registration fee.

ID Requirement

On the day of the event, registered brides must bring proof of service and ID upon check in.  Once verified, you will be assisted in finding a gown from the selection provided for the event.

Who Qualifies?

If you are a military bride/first responder (or the fiancé of a military member or first responder), you must pre-register and visit one of the participating salons with proof of deployment (Please see ID requirements on this page) to select a wedding gown.

  1. Are you engaged and planning a wedding within the next 18 months?
  2. Have you or your fiancé been on active military duty, or a veteran within the past 5 years? (We accept deployments as well as active service).
  3. Are a first responder bride?  If so, you or your fiancé must be an active police officer, fire fighter, EMT, or Paramedic with a valid work ID or proof of service.
  4. Have you had a civil ceremony and are now planning a formal wedding?

If you answer 'Yes' to 1 or 4 above, and you also answer 'Yes' to criteria 2 or 3 above, you qualify.

Note: We accept submarine, special operations and Navy orders.
